Vasco Nunez de Balboa was born on the year of 1475 , in Jerez de los Caballeros . He was known as a Spanish explorer , governor , and an conquistador . He was a child of the lords in the castle of balboa . Not much was known about Vasco’s early childhood life . He had a poor Spanish family , the third of four boys . Also , his father was a noblemen , which was called Nuno Arias de Balboa . Balboa’s mother was a lady of Babao`s . Vasco Nunez de balboa was An uneducated man . During his younger years , Vasco Nunez de balboa served as a page (age 7) , a squire (age 14) , a knight (age 21) , and lastly a kings soldier .
Balboa was one of the most famous explorers of all time . This legendary explorer explored central America and was noted for discovering one of the oceans of the world , the pacific ocean . He discovered it from its eastern shore after crossing the isthmus of panama overland in 1513 . He was impacted by being an explorer because he wanted the balboa name to be recognized and remembered . Although his family was not as rich and powerful as it once was . They all have been knights , governors , doctors , church titles , and have been advisors to kings .
Throughout the 1500 , motivated by his master after the news of Christopher Columbus’ journeys to the new world became well-known , balboa chose to begin his first voyage to the Americas . Balboa has accomplished several explorations and discovering . The voyages he took at sea life were very difficult for him . Balboa has took on several challenges but had some cherishing moments . Vasco Nunez de balboa took over 63 voyages .
For instance , in the 1500 balboa sailed with Rodrigo de bastidas from Spain to explore Columbia , south America . Balboa then settled on the island of Hispaniola wishing to make a living as a farmer . 1510 Balboa and his crew reach san Sebastian and discover that it is burned to the ground , but they continue their voyage going towards the southwest . In 1511 Nicuesa founded the town of Santa Maria de la Antigua del Darien which was the first European settlements in south America . In 1513 Vasco sailed with hundreds of Spaniards and Indians across the gulf of Uraba to the Darien peninsula . The famous explorer Francisco Pizarro , who later conquered the Incas of Peru . Balboa and his crew explored overland through dense rainforests in a west direction . Vasco Nunez de balboa was the first European to see the pacific ocean from a peak in Darien , panama - alone . Balboa traveled to the ocean and claimed it and all the land that touched it for Spain . Vasco Nunez de balboa spent a month natives along the pacific coast , he found a fortune in gold , pearls , and slaves and then returned to Antigua .
Vasco Nunez de balboa and his crew met several people . Like the Indies and so forth and so on . When they returned home vasco a new governor named Pedrarias Davila had an appointed . Balboa was initially acquitted of all charges by the governor . 2 years later balboa gained popularity over governor Davila and to make matters worst between them , balboa became engaged to pedrarias Davila’s daughter and eventually married her . He then continued his explorations leaving pedrarias Davila to plot against him .
